Why Growth?

Primary tabs

There comes a time where the fundamental question of growth must be asked. Are we here to grow? Is growth something that each of us should work towards, or is it something that should be avoided? Is growth good or bad or is it irrelevant one way or the other? Why should we grow? What are the results of growth? These are all very important foundational questions towards advancing in life.
Growth Is Vital To Life

Growth is Natural

Almost everything in the universe is growing. Plants grow, animals grow and humans grow. Things in this world have a way of starting at one point and growing into another point. Things grow and then move on. You don't see plants starting at the full grown state and then becoming seeds. You don't see bears starting as a full grown adult and then becoming a cub and you don't see humans starting out as fully developed adults and then becoming a child. This world is not set up to devolve, rather it is setup to evolve.

As things grow, or evolve, they usually become overall better or at least more valuable. An adult plant has much value to offer the world. It has remedies, cures, scents and many other uses that the seed or young plant may not fully have. It had to grow to become this way. The adult lion is able to protect its young and hunt for food. The baby lion doesn't stand a chance when it comes to taking care of itself or hunting on its own, it is not as developed as the adult version and has more growth to do. And similarly, the adult human has many advantages over the child. While the child usually holds some admirable traits like honesty, humility, sincerity and so forth, the adult still holds a huge advantage over the child, especially if it too holds on to these admirable child traits rather than loosing them as so many choose to do.

Promoting Growth

The whole point I am trying to drive home is that growth is something that nature promotes. For whatever reason it may be, we live in a world set up and built for growth. Things start at point A, develop themselves to point B, and then move on. The physical body is a great example showing the path that an adult should choose to lead. It is a path of growth and progression.

Likewise, as the body grows so too should the intellectual and mental aspects of the body. It is both natural and proper for the fully grown adult to be more intelligent than the child. The adult is set up to develop the mental aspects of the body in order to lead a sufficient life. Without the proper journey towards growth of intelligence man would still be like the caveman, living in a world with less possibility. Growth towards development of intelligence is something that should always be embraced.

Avoiding Growth

But what happens when we avoid growth? All too often we find people who do not want to change. We find people who do not want to grow. There can be a number of reasons as to why this is, however, the result is almost always the same: negative. Avoiding growth is like removing the life of a person. To not grow is to not live. Avoiding growth is like putting your life on pause or even in reverse. It is not healthy for others and especially not healthy for yourself.

Many problems in this world arise from people who choose not to grow and a long line of problems can arise from the simple decision of choosing not to grow. The employee who decides to do the same procedure everyday for work suffers from lack of growth. And due to this lack of growth they will become tired of working and not appreciate their job. They will come to work with despair rather than hope. The student who decides to no longer study has put growth on hold. The salesman who is too scared to pick up the telephone and make a call is avoiding growth. There are many ways people will avoid growth and this almost always will come to create negative returns in the long run.

Conclusion

Therefore, as we journey through life I find it completely important to embrace growth as a fundamental and core part of proper living. We should always be coming back and checking in as to whether or not we are growing. We should be checking in and making sure that we are not avoiding growth. We should be allowing ourselves to grow when need be and helping others grow in the process. Growth is a fundamental reason as to why we are here and it is perfectly natural to grow.
