I hear it every single day: people complaining about this and people complaining about that. There aren't enough jobs out there. There isn't enough work. Why won't this company hire me? And then in the same breath it will be followed by: why do we still use oil? These corporations are so greedy. I could build a better one. This world has too many problems. Why won't anybody do something about this? And on and on.
The answer is so completely clear that it needs to be said: we need less employees and more entrepreneurs. This is almost the complete crux and purpose behind this website. We obviously have way too many people looking for a "job" and far too few people looking to create a job.
Look at all the college students who are graduating college and starting their job hunt only to find that there aren't any jobs. Not only are these students having difficulty finding a job in the career with their "degree", but they are also finding it increasingly difficult to simply get a mediocre job that doesn't even require a degree. There are a lot of reasons as to why this is the case, however, the solution to such a problem is quite simple: Create a job! Start a company! Offer your value to the world. Solve one of the many problems on this planet and contribute.
The age of working for others is slowly changing. We are reaching an age where people need to develop self-discipline and responsibility for themselves. In the future it will no longer be enough to simply act as a machine and do a rote task over and over again. We have machines that can do that now, and it's only going to become increasingly so. In the future we are going to have to become creative beings that follow our own passions and achieve our own goals. We are going to have to become leaders that can assess a situation and solve the problems and create the value.
If we could have people change their mindset from getting a job to making a job things would be so much better. The world is clearly trying to show us that we don't need more employees. We have a huge surplus of employees. What the world is showing us is that we need more entrepreneurs - and the time couldn't be more prime. The solution to a problem in the world is not complaining about it, but rather doing something about it. And the solution to needing a job is solving a problem. We need to stretch ourselves to become creative individuals capable of pursuing our inner strengths and gifts. We all have unique value that we can offer to the world and it is about time we start.
