If there is one word which could describe the primary reason why so many people choose to remain wage slaves for the majority of their lives as opposed to becoming business owners, this word is “fear.” For many people, the road towards being self employed is one which is filled with uncertainty, and if there is one thing that humans fear, it is uncertainty. Additionally, many books on the market don't provide people with a clear strategy that they can use in order to make this transition.
In many arenas of life, fear is caused by a lack of knowledge when it comes to the thing which a person fears. In other words, people fear going out on their own simply because they don't understand how to do so. By gaining an understanding of self employment and how to transition from your day job to being self employed, we believe that this fear can be alleviated. Society would actually benefit a lot better if more people were self employed, and at one time in the United States, a huge percentage of the population was self employed, much more so than today.
Unfortunately, heavy government regulation, taxes, inflation, and the the rise of transnational corporations has created an environment where going out on your own is seen as being risky and difficult. But true risk comes from being employed by some large organization, one that doesn't have your best interests at heart. It has often been said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step, and this is how the journey towards self employed should be viewed. As opposed to jumping directly into the lake, in this book we show you how to dip your toe in first, testing the water before placing more of your body in. Eventually, you will be submerged, and because you made your way in gradually, you will be comfortable. The transition period itself can be tedious and trying, but it is the best way to move away from the corporate world, a world you don't control, into a world that you do.
