Millions of Americans around the country are working second jobs, and many of these people honestly believe that working more than one job will allow them to get ahead. In fact, there are some Americans who are actually working three jobs! One such person that has worked at two jobs is a dear friend. When he approached me a few years ago and informed me that he was taking a second job, I advised him against it. I told him that working two jobs would not allow him to get ahead, and that it was much better to focus on “a single line of work that had the ability to generate an enormous income.”
Unfortunately, my friend had to learn things the hard way. He tried working two jobs, but after a few weeks, he became exhausted and begin slipping in performance at one of the jobs, forcing him to quit one of them. When he was working at both jobs, he was often tired and spent most of his time sleeping, barely having enough time to enjoy the extra money he was making. He gained weight due to eating poorly and his quality of life suffered immensely. While the people who work more than one job are definitely industrious and hard working, these traits alone will not allow you to become rich. Always remember the formula above, that a dead end job plus another dead end job equals no future.
